Heritage Listings
Heritage Listings identify places of heritage significance. They assist
communities to keep in touch
with their historical background and to protect buildings for future
generations.
Statutory Heritage Registers such as the NSW State Heritage Register
maintained by the NSW
Heritage Office, assist in managing changes while ensuring that heritage
significance is not lost.
Nominations for listing require a detailed knowledge of the standard
heritage significance criteria, a high
level of experience with historical research (including comparative
analysis of similar heritage items) and
familiarity with listing procedures as practiced by local councils and
the NSW Heritage Council.
